First Vice Foreign Minister to Visit Turkey and Iran

1. First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yong will visit Turkey and Iran from June 25 through 27 to meet with his Turkish and Iranian counterparts, Feridun Hadi Sinirlioglu and Morteza Sarmadi.

2. In the Republic of Korea-Turkey meeting on June 25, the two vice ministers will exchange views on the bilateral relations; the situations on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia; ways to work together on the international stage and across the board, including trade, investment and infrastructure construction; and such international issues as those involving MIKTA, the G20 and the Middle East.

3. The ROK-Iran vice ministerial meeting on June 27 will cover the progress in bilateral cooperation in political affairs, such as robust high-level exchanges; bilateral issues in a wide range of sectors, including economy, culture, healthcare and development cooperation; and the way forward for the bilateral ties.

4. The planned visit of Vice Minister Cho to Turkey and Iran is expected to serve as an opportunity to promote cooperative ties and step up communication with each of the two leading Middle Eastern countries on matters of mutual concern.
