1. On April 9, six South Korean nationals staying on Socotra Island have been evacuated from Yemen aboard the warship Wang Geon of the Cheonghae Unit with the support of the ROK’s temporary diplomatic mission on the vessel. They will arrive at Oman’s Salalah Port on April 10.

2. The six Koreans boarded the warship at around 15:45, April 9 (09:45 local time). After the warship arrives at Salalah Port at about 11:00 (06:00 local time), April 10, a five-member emergency response team, sent by the Foreign Ministry, will support the Koreans’ immigration process and entry into a third country.

3. The Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff have closely cooperated to evacuate these Korean nationals. The ROK government will continue to work to ensure the safety of remaining Koreans in Yemen through the temporary diplomatic mission and the Cheonghae Unit.

4. On humanitarian grounds, the ROK government evacuated two Americans, two Canadians, one New Zealander, and one Swiss staying on Socotra Island, along with the Koreans, aboard the warship Wang Geon at the request of their countries.
