1. A director-general-level policy consultation between the Republic of Korea and Iraq will take place in Seoul on March 16, with Director-General for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Kwon Hee-seog and Director of the Asia and Australia Department Jawad al-Hindawi of the Foreign Ministries of the ROK and Iraq leading their respective delegations.

2. In the policy consultation, the two sides will exchange views on a wide range of matters of mutual concern, including economic cooperation and other bilateral issues; ways to protect ROK nationals staying in Iraq; and the situation in the Middle East as well as on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia.

3. The forthcoming meeting will mark the first director-general-level policy consultation between the two countries since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1989. It is expected to help the two countries better understand each other and promote their friendship and cooperation in economy and various other sectors down the road.
