1. The Korean medical worker, who was taken to Charite University Hospital in Germany on January 4, was discharged from the hospital on January 19 as he had shown no Ebola symptoms during the three-week latent period, drawing judgment that he/she had not contracted the virus. The worker had been sent to the medical facility after exposure to the Ebola virus while working on the Korea Disaster Response Team (KDRT) dispatched to Sierra Leone to join the fight against the Ebola epidemic.

◦ After his/her return home, the medical worker will not undergo quarantine. The government of the Republic of Korea, in cooperation with its Embassy in Germany, will render support to the worker for his/her safe return home.

2. On a side note, the second batch of the KDRT, which left for the UK on January 10 for advance training in the country, arrived in Sierra Leone on January 18. The group will start providing medical services after a week of adaptation training in the country.

◦ The first batch of the KDRT will return home on January 26 and undergo observation in a facility for three weeks, returning to their normal life activities afterwards.
