1. The Government of the Republic of Korea cannot but be shocked over the terrorist attack on the headquarters of the weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris on January 7 that claimed the lives of police officers and many others. The ROK government strongly condemns such acts of terrorism.

2. In addition, the ROK government prays for the repose of the innocent people killed in the terrorist attack and offers its deepest condolences and consolation to their bereaved families as well as the French people.

3. The ROK government supports efforts by the French government to fight terrorism and will continue to participate actively in efforts of the international community, including the UN, to eradicate acts of terrorism, with its firm position that terrorist acts are crimes against humanity that cannot be justified under any circumstances and should be eradicated by all means.
