1. Approximately one month ahead of the Commemorative Summit 2014 between the Republic of Korea and ASEAN set to take place at Bexco, Busan, on December 11 and 12, a variety of cultural events will be held. The events are expected to serve as a cultural bridge between the ROK and ASEAN in such diverse fields as film, the fine arts and academics and promote two-way communication.

2. The ASEAN-Korea Centre will hold part of the aforementioned events, including the ASEAN Film Festival 2014, an architecture exhibition themed “Jewels of ASEAN,” the ASEAN-Korea Youth Forum 2014, and ASEAN on Wheels. The first-ever ASEAN film festival to take place in the ROK will be participated by all of the 10 member countries of ASEAN.

3. In particular, Busan Metropolitan City, the venue of the summit, will host a special ASEAN art exhibition themed “the origin of beauty,” and an ROK-ASEAN festival of everyday art and culture themed “the way to ASEAN.”

4. In addition, other events will take place to promote exchanges of information and understanding between the peoples of the ROK and the ASEAN member countries. Such events will include the fifth ASEAN-ROK Frontier Forum, a “Song of Asia” concert, a bilateral Forum for Science and Technology Innovation, and a bilateral academic conference.

5. The series of cultural events to come in commemoration of the ASEAN-ROK summit is expected to help the meeting serve as an opportunity for a cultural feast and to boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two sides.
