Chinese Power Bloggers Visit the ROK at the Invitation of the Foreign Ministry

1. An eleven-member Chinese delegation consisting of eight power bloggers, who have some 80 million followers, and officials of huanqiu.com, a leading news portal, visited the Republic of Korea from September 18 through 25 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.

2. The delegation visited relevant government agencies and organizations, including its inviter, the Foreign Ministry, and its affiliate, the Korea National Diplomatic Academy. On those occasions, the group met with relevant officials to exchange views on ways to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

3. The group also visited the inter-Korean demilitarized zone (DMZ) as well as Insa-dong and Samcheong-dong in Seoul to learn about various aspects of Korea, posting their impressions on their Weibo pages for many Chinese to learn about Korea indirectly.

4. The Chinese bloggers invitation program is one of the ROK Foreign Ministry’s public diplomacy programs designed to promote friendship and exchanges between the civilians of the two countries. The latest visit of Chinese power bloggers is expected to help Chinese netizens better understand Korea.
