1. The government of the Republic of Korea welcomes and highly appreciates the opening of the Memorial Hall for Ahn Jung-geun at Harbin Railway Station in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang on January 19 as discussed by ROK President Park Geun-hye and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the former’s state visit to China in June 2013.

2. From inside the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, located in the VIP lounge of Harbin Station, people can look out at the site of the patriotic deed by Patriot Ahn. The Memorial Hall, maintained by the Harbin municipal government, is open to the public for free. The Memorial Hall displays materials on Ahn’s life and his patriotic deed as well as relevant photos.

3. The ROK government attaches significance to the establishment of the Memorial Hall honoring Patriot Ahn, one of those most revered by the peoples of the ROK and China. It hopes that Northeast Asian countries will take this opportunity to remind themselves of the noble spirit of Ahn’s “Theory of Oriental Peace” and take the path toward genuine peace and cooperation based on a correct view of history.
