Humanitarian Aid for Flood Victims in Tajikistan

1. With regard to massive damage including the destruction of houses and the loss of human life 
in Tajikistan caused by recent heavy rains, the Korean government has decided to provide 50,000 
dollars’ worth of emergency relief supplies in humanitarian aid.

   ㅇ Recent heavy rains in the southern Kulob region have affected 16,000 people in rural areas, 
while leaving about 4,500 people homeless, around 300 injured, 33 missing and about 40 dead.

2. For aid for flood victims, the Tajik government, along with organizations within the UN, asked 
the international community to provide support on May 19. The Korean government will provide 
relief supplies consisting mainly of food, which is in high demand, in consultation with the Tajik 
government.
