1. Minister Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to pay an official visit to Japan from October 27 to 29, at the invitation
by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Machimura Nobutaka.
2. At the Korea-Japan Foreign Ministers' Talks, the two ministers will have preparatory consultations ahead
of the fifth round of the Six-Party Talks and the APEC Summit in Busan, and discuss other major bilateral
issues and issues of mutual concern.
3. Taking this opportunity, Minister Ban will clearly express the ROK Government's position on Prime Minister
Koizumi Junichiro's visit to Yasukuni Shrine on October 17, and stress that Japan must have correct
understanding of history and carry it into practice for the future-oriented development of Korea-Japan
relations.
