1. Minister Ban Ki-moon, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda,
Charles Murigande signed the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the
Government of the Republic of Rwanda on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation" and the
"Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Republic of
Rwanda on the Korea Overseas Volunteers Program" on October 26, 2005.
2. The Korea-Rwanda Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement is expected to
promote bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, science and technology by encouraging joint
investments by Korean and Rwandese companies and by establishing a joint committee. The Agreement
on the Korea Overseas Volunteers Program is expected to promote the ROK's contributions to the economic
and social development of Rwanda and enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the two
countries, as Korean volunteers will be sent to Rwanda with convenience provided by the Rwandese
government.
3. Rwanda is the 24th country with which the ROK has concluded an agreement on economic, scientific and
technological cooperation, and Rwanda will be the 35th country to which the ROK will dispatch volunteers
from the Korea Overseas Volunteers Program.
