1. The third Republic of Korea-United States Energy Security Dialogue will take place in Washington, US, on May 10, with Director-General for Climate Change and Environmental Affairs Lee Hyung-jong of the ROK Foreign Ministry and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources Mary Warlick of the US Department of State leading their respective delegations.
2. In the meeting, the two sides will exchange views on bilateral, regional and global issues of concern, including the two countries’ policies on energy and climate change; bilateral cooperation on clean energy, petroleum and natural gas; energy security cooperation in Northeast Asia; and international energy governance.
3. The ROK-US Energy Security Dialogue, the only consultative mechanism on energy security between the diplomatic authorities of the two countries, has been established pursuant to the agreement reached at the bilateral summit talks in May 2013.
4. During his visit to the US for the dialogue, Director-General Lee will meet with experts of Washington-based think tanks to expand the network with energy scholars in the US.
