1. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will meet with former Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Al-Sabah of Kuwait on January 28, who is on a visit to the Republic of Korea to deliver a keynote speech at the ROK–GCC(Gulf Cooperation Council) Business Partnership Day to take place on January 29.
◦ The ROK is the largest importer of Kuwaiti crude oil, while Kuwait is the ROK’s second-largest supplier of oil and liquidified petroleum gas as well as its third-largest overseas construction market. The two countries have solidified their friendly and cooperative ties since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1979.
◦ The ROK and Kuwait have been further stepping up their close cooperation in the fields of energy and construction, while working to diversify the fields of cooperation to include healthcare and medical service, ICT, transportation and education.
2. Former Foreign Minister Mohammad Al-Sabah, a son of King Sheik Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, served at the post for eight years from 2003 till 2011.
