1. The 9th Republic of Korea (ROK)-International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) High-Level Policy Consultation will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a face-to-face format on November 3, co-chaired by Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ham Sang Wook and Deputy Director General and Head of the IAEA’s Department of Safeguards Massimo Aparo.

2. At the Consultation, the two sides will extensively discuss matters of mutual interest, including ways of cooperation in strengthening the IAEA’s readiness to verify the North Korean nuclear program, key issues concerning the IAEA safeguards, and the ROK-IAEA cooperation on safeguards.

3. The ROK-IAEA High-Level Policy Consultation, which will have taken place nine times on an annual basis since it was first held in 2013, has taken on the role as a strategic communication channel between the two sides ever since.
