ROK-Indonesia Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Conversation on Mar. 3

1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone conversation with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno L.P. Marsudi on the afternoon of March 3 and explained in detail the efforts of the government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to control the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

° Minister Kang explained that the ROK government has been making all-out efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 by implementing government-wide, transparent, and preemptive measures.

° The Minister, asking for Indonesia’s continued confidence in the ROK government’s disease control capacity, extended appreciation to the country for not imposing an entry ban or other measures on Korean nationals.

2. Minister Retno, highly commending the ROK’s disease control capacity, mentioned that COVID-19 cases had recently been confirmed in Indonesia and that the COVID-19 issue is one that all the countries should cooperate to resolve together.

° Minister Retno went on to say that, given close economic relations and active people-to-people exchanges with the ROK, Indonesia is not currently considering taking such measures as an entry ban on Koreans. She asked the ROK, on its part, to keep in place its entry policy for Indonesians.

3. The two Ministers shared the view that the ROK and Indonesia will be able to overcome the current situation together based on their friendly and trustful relations, and agreed to continue close communication between the governments of the two countries.
