1. On October 7, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a working dinner with Secretary of State of the United States Mike Pompeo, who was on a visit to the Republic of Korea. Over the dinner that came after Secretary Pompeo’s courtesy call on President Moon Jae-in, the Minister and the Secretary exchanged views on the outcome of the latter’s latest visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
2. The Minister and the Secretary agreed to maintain close ROK-US cooperation in order to attain advances in the US-North Korea relations, including through the proposed second US-North Korea summit meeting, and to lead the efforts to achieve tangible progress toward denuclearization and the establishment of peace by building on the results of the Secretary’s visit to the DPRK.
