Agreement on the February 20-25 Family Reunion  

 

On February 5, 2014, South and North Korea held a working-level Red Cross meeting at Panmunjom to discuss issues regarding the family reunion. The agreement between South and North reads as follows:

1.     South and North Korea shall hold family reunions from February 20 to 25 at Mt. Geumgang. 

-        Each side shall have 100 candidates for the reunion and the candidates shall be the ones who were on the list, which was exchanged last September. Guardians may accompany the candidates if necessary.

-        The family reunion shall follow the pattern and system of the past family reunions, but it shall take place indoor.

-        Group reunions shall take place at the Reunion Center for the Separated Families and the Kumgangsan Hotel. Separated family members from the South shall stay at Kumgangsan and Oekumgang Hotel.  

-        Both sides shall send an advance group to the site five days prior to the family reunion.

-        The North shall allow the South to send a facility inspection team from February 7 for on-site inspections and guarantee the provision of convenience for the inspection team.

 

2.     South and North agreed to hold working-level Red Cross talks after the February 20-25 reunion and continue discussions on solving humanitarian issues. South and North Korea shall decide upon the meeting schedule through written letters.
