Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Meets with Swedish Special Envoy to Korean Peninsula

1. On the morning of October 23, Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, met with Amb. Kent Härstedt, Swedish Special Envoy to the Korean Peninsula, and exchanged views on issues related to the DPRK, including the U.S.-DPRK working level negotiations (October 4-5) held in Stockholm.

 

2. Amb. Lee, commending the Swedish government’s contribution in the process of the U.S.-DPRK working-level negotiations, hoped that the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Kingdom of Sweden continue cooperation in maintaining the momentum for dialogue which leads to substantial progress in achieving complete denuclearization and establishing lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

 

3. Special Envoy Härstedt, expressing appreciation for the ROK’s comment, mentioned that the Swedish government will continue close communication and cooperation with the ROK, U.S., DPRK and other relevant countries to ensure the smooth process of future dialogues between the U.S. and DPRK.
