1. Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Lee Do-hoon held his first telephone conversation with new Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun of the United States Department of State on September 7 to congratulate him on his inauguration. 

2. The two sides exchanged views on the outcome of the recent visit to North Korea by special envoys of the Republic of Korea and the current situation on the Korean Peninsula; and agreed to work closely together to achieve tangible progress toward denuclearization and to build peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula through ironclad ROK-US coordination.

3. Special Representative Biegun mentioned that he looked forward to holding in-depth consultations with Special Representative Lee during the former’s visit to the ROK from September 10 till 12. The two sides agreed to continue communicating with each other as often as necessary in a bid to closely fine-tune their next strategies.
