Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On December 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will hold the first meeting of the preparatory committee for the Korea-Pacific Islands Summit.

The Korea-Pacific Islands Summit, which will be held for the first time next year, is expected to serve as an opportunity for Korea, as a global pivotal state, to raise its diplomatic status and further advance its relations with countries in the Pacific region, key cooperation partners for Korea’s Indo-Pacific strategy.

In the upcoming meeting of the preparatory committee, Foreign Minister Park, together with participants from relevant government agencies and organizations, will draw up plans to prepare for the summit and discuss ways to work together, including exploring new projects and launching a preparatory task force.
