  • Scholarships for Overseas Koreans to be Invited to Korea

    • Purpose of the Project

      • To build the foundation of educating human resources who can make contributions to the development of overseas Korean societies as well as in the motherland by finding the next generation talents of excellent overseas Koreans.
    • Object of the selection

      • Overseas Koreans who are citizens, permanent residents or legal long-term residents of the country they reside in
      • Age · For undergraduate courses : those under 25 years old
        • For graduate and masters courses : those under 40 years old
      • Those who plan to enter into domestic Korean bachelor, masters, and doctorate courses/programs
      • Eucation
        • Overseas Koreans who have completed all prerequisite courses in the overseas countries
    • Number of Invitations

      • Bachelor course : 35 people
      • Masters & doctorate course : 45 people
    • Scholarship benefit

      • Airfare (Roundtrip)
      • A monthly allowance of 900,000won
      • Settlement allowance
      • Medical insurance
      • Language training expenses for 6-8 months
      • Tuition: for applicants who qualify for tuition waiver, OKF will offer administrative assistance in filing application to the relevant universities for tuition waiver
    • Schedule of Invitation

      • Application Submission Deadline: Around mid-April every year Since the application submission deadline can be different for each overseas diplomatic office, please be sure to confirm the application submission deadline by inquiring to the relevant diplomatic offices in advance
      • Final selection and announcement of selected candidates: Middle of May
    • Support Application Method: Submit support application documents to competent diplomatic offices per each country

      Overseas Korean Foundation (OKF) does not accept support application documents directly.

      • Documents to be submitted
        • One Completed Application Form
        • One Self-introduction Essay (on a prescribed form)
        • One Study Plan (on a prescribed form)
        • Copies of School Diploma
        • Copies of School Grade Transcripts
        • Two Recommendation Letters (from the applicant's teacher or principal of the school, academic advisor or the relevant chief executive officer of the organization, etc.)
        • One TOPIK certificate
        • Personal Medical Assessment
        • One Copy of the Applicant’s Passport or copy of an alien registration with the Korean government
    • Selection Method

      Applicants of scholarship student support: Submit application documents to overseas diplomatic offices in residing countries

      • Overseas diplomatic offices: Submit received application documents to the Overseas Korean Foundation (OKF)
      • Overseas Korean Foundation (OKF): The「Selection Examination Committee of Overseas Koreans Scholarship Students」within the Foundation examines, selects, and announces selected candidates

      Selected candidates are advised through overseas diplomatic offices and can also be found through postings on the Foundation's website
