Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will virtually deliver congratulatory remarks at the special academic conference marking the 30^th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-China diplomatic relations, hosted by the Korean Political Science Association and others on Thursday, June 30.

As the two countries celebrate their 30^th anniversary, the conference participants will review the achievements established in various areas of Korea-China relations and discuss in depth the future way forward together.

In his congratulatory remarks, Foreign Minister Park will emphasize the importance of developing the 30-year-old relations between Korea and China in a healthier and more mature way based on the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Dohoon will meet with  the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Tomás Ojea Quintana, on the afternoon of tomorrow, Wednesday, June 29.

Special Rapporteur Quintana is on a visit to Korea from June 27 to 29 ahead of the expiration of his tenure at the end of July.

In the meeting, Vice Minister Lee and Special Rapporteur Quintana will exchange views on ways to work together to improve the human rights and humanitarian situations in the DPRK.
