Good afternoon. Let
me start today’s briefing.
On Tuesday, April
26, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong will have a meeting and luncheon
with Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania Hon.
Amb. Liberata Mulamula who will visit Korea from April 25 to 30.
The upcoming visit
to Korea by Minister Mulamula will mark the first official visit to the country
by a Tanzanian Foreign Minister in four years. In their meeting, the two
Foreign Ministers will review Korea-Tanzania relations as the two countries
mark their 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic
relations this year, and discuss ways for bilateral cooperation including substantive
cooperation in such areas as trade and infrastructure. The Korean side will
also ask for Tanzania’s support for Korea’s bid to host the World Expo 2030 in
Busan.
The ROK government
welcomes the U.S. commitment on April 18 not to conduct destructive
direct-ascent anti-satellite missile testing.
As a co-sponsor of
the UN General Assembly resolution on “Reducing
space threats through norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviours”,
the ROK government will continue to contribute to the further development of
norms with the aim of maintaining a peaceful and sustainable outer space
environment.
