Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

 

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will visit Washington D.C., the United States, at the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and have a meeting with Secretary Pompeo on November 9.

 

The Minister and the Secretary, by continuing strategic bilateral communication, will reaffirm the robust alliance between the ROK and the U.S. and have an in-depth discussion on ways for collaboration for complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula as well as the strengthening of the ROK-U.S. alliance.

 

The two sides will also exchange views on matters of mutual interest, including regional and global affairs.

 

During her visit to the U.S., Minister Kang will also meet with members of the U.S. Congress and academic circles and ask for continued support and cooperation in moving the Korean Peninsula peace process forward and strengthening the ROK-U.S. alliance.

 

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Taeho will attend “the 15th Jeju Forum for Peace & Prosperity (Jeju Forum)” and deliver keynote speeches at the “Ambassadors Roundtable” on the topic of “Sharing the Lessons and Experiences from COVID-19” and at the “Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum” on November 6.

 

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will deliver congratulatory remarks at the 16th “Korea-Japan Festival in Seoul” event to be held online on November 10.

 

The “Korea-Japan Festival in Seoul” is a cultural exchange event between the civil societies of the ROK and Japan that has been held in Seoul on an annual basis since 2005, which was declared as “the Year of Korea-Japan Friendship.”
