Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On the afternoon of October 30, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha will attend a retirement ceremony of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, present awards and commendations to the 17 people who retired in the first half of the year 2020, and deliver words of appreciation to them for their dedication to diplomacy and national interests.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun, together with Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic Manlio Di Stefano, will hold a strategic dialogue in a virtual format on October 30.

The forthcoming strategic dialogue, the first one between the Republic of Korea and Italy as a follow-up on the bilateral summit held in October 2018, will cover response to COVID-19, substantive cooperation in such areas as science and technology, regional affairs, and ways to enhance strategic partnership including on global issues.

By holding the meeting, the ROK will seek to further step up cooperation with Italy, the G20 Chair for 2021.
