1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Choi Jong Kun held the 7^th High-Level Political Consultation with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States Carmen Moreno, who is visiting Korea, on the morning of February 7.

2. On the occasion of the 60^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the two sides agreed to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership based on the promotion of trade and investment through bilateral FTAs and Korea’s accession to the Pacific Alliance as an associate member, and on cooperation related to the reshaping of the global supply chains. In addition, the two sides discussed ways to increase exchanges and cooperation through various events commemorating the 60^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

o Moreover, the two vice ministers discussed ways for triangular cooperation to address the root causes of migration from Central America and exchanged views on ways to strengthen cooperation on international issues including the election of the Director-General of the International Labour Organization.

3. The 7th High-Level Political Consultation, held in seven years since 2015, served as an opportunity to continue the momentum of high-level exchanges between the two countries since Vice Minister Choi Jong Kun’s visit to Mexico in April of last year, and at the same time, to strengthen future-oriented strategic communication and exchanges on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Mexico, Korea’s key cooperative partner in Latin America*.

* Mexico is Korea’s 9th largest export destination (Korea's exports and imports posted 11.3 billion dollars and 7.9 billion dollars, respectively, in 2021.). / There are around 430 Korean companies and 12,000 Korean residents in Mexico.

4. Meanwhile, the Vice Minister and the Undersecretary also attended together a gala concert celebrating the 60 years’ friendship between Korea and Mexico held on the evening of February 6 at the Seoul Art Center.
