Vice Foreign Minister Lim Meets with Delegates from Korea Society

1. Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam met with Chairman Thomas Hubbard and President Thomas Byrne of the Korea Society on November 9, during which the two sides exchanged views on activities of the Korea Society and the outcome of President Trump’s visit to the Republic of Korea.

※ The Korea Society is a non-profit organization founded in New York, the US, in 1957 to promote friendship and understanding between the ROK and the US.

2. Vice Minister Lim extended appreciation to the Korea Society for conducting various activities to better inform the US people about the ROK and contribute to the efforts to strengthen the ROK-US relations. He asked the organization to continue robust efforts to promote exchanges and understanding between the two countries and their nationals.

° The Vice Minister also asked the Korea Society to pay keen attention to and support the efforts to make a success of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

° President Byrne, speaking of the Korea Society’s activity plan for 2018, stated that the organization will do everything it can to contribute toward a stronger ROK-US alliance and the success of the PyeongChang Olympics.

3. With regard to President Trump’s state visit to the ROK, Chairman Hubbard commented that it had been very successful. Vice Minister Lim responded that the ROK likewise appreciates President Trump’s visit to the ROK as an opportunity to further beef up the already steadfast ROK-US alliance and to reaffirm bilateral coordination toward a peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue.
