1. With regard to the killing of a national of the Republic of Korea on board the ship Kwang Hyun 803, the Foreign Ministry will consult closely with the government of the Seychelles through diplomatic channels on the transport of the suspect and other judicial procedures. At the same time, the Ministry will also render consular assistance to the victim’s bereaved family, including in the repatriation of the body of the victim.

° The ROK Embassy in Ethiopia sent a consul to the Seychelles on June 21 for working-level consultations with the government of the Seychelles on ways to extend assistance to the investigation team from the Korea Coast Guard with regard to its probe and the judicial procedures.

° In addition, the consul will offer consular assistance to the victim’s bereaved family from the time they arrive in the Seychelles until they leave the country, including with regard to the funeral and the repatriation of the victim’s body.

2. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry, in close cooperation with the Korea Coast Guard headquarters, will consult closely on the relevant judicial procedures, among others, with the Seychelles government through diplomatic channels until the handling of the aftermath of the incident is completed.
