Outcome of Consultation between Korean and U.S. Chief Negotiators for North Korean Nuclear Issue on Dec. 9

1. Amb. Lee Do-hoon, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, had a consultation with Mr. Stephen Biegun, Deputy Secretary of State and Special Representative for North Korea of the United States, on the afternoon of December 9.

 

° The two chief negotiators noted with appreciation that Korea and the U.S., based on close communication and coordination on Korean Peninsula issues, have made diverse efforts to achieve the goal of complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula as agreed upon by the leaders of the two Koreas and the U.S., and their joint efforts have contributed to maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

 

2. Based on the achievements and experiences accumulated so far, the Korean government will continue to closely communicate and cooperate with its U.S. counterpart in order to make progress toward complete denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
