Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, currently in Singapore to attend ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers' Meetings this week, had a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith of Laos on August 1.

The two top diplomats discussed measures to restore damages caused by the recent accident at the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydroelectric dam in Laos; cooperation between the ROK and ASEAN; and bilateral relations between the ROK and Laos.

FM Kang reiterated her deep sympathies for the victims of the dam accident, and hoped that the ROK's emergency relief assistance, including the dispatch of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) and provision of emergency supplies, contributes to the speedy recovery of the affected area.
