Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.


Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Korea’s partners in Central Asia, from May 30 to June 4.


During his visit to the two countries, Foreign Minister Park will pay courtesy calls on the Presidents and have meetings with his counterparts of those countries, among others, to discuss ways for strategic cooperation and to build economic security networks in emerging next-generation markets.


Foreign Minister Park will also hold meetings with representatives of local Koreans and entrepreneurs to hear about their difficulties and render support for Korean companies’ activities. 


He will also have meetings with ethnic Koreans and attend the donation ceremony of stage equipment for Almaty State Korean Theater, using them as opportunities to extend support for the development of the local ethnic Korean communities that are serving as a bridge in the advancement of bilateral relations between Korea and the two countries. He will communicate with local young generations as well. 


Moving on, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Lee Dohoon will attend the 18th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity from June 1 to 2.


On June 1, the Vice Minister will host an official dinner on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the key participants of the Forum. 


In his remarks at the dinner event, Vice Minister Lee will highlight the importance of strengthening the international solidarity and order based on core values and explain the Korean government’s efforts to broaden its diplomatic horizon. 


Earlier in the day, Vice Minister Lee will deliver a keynote speech in the session on “Expanding Global Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific,” explaining the Korean government’s Strategy for a Free, Peaceful, and Prosperous Indo-Pacific Region and priorities of the strategy.
