Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
With this year marking the 60th anniversary of Africa Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Korea-Africa Foundation, the Korea International Trade Association, and the African diplomatic corps in Korea, will host the Africa Week event until late May.
Particularly, as one of the main events, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will host an Africa Day celebration dinner for people from a range of areas on the evening of May 25.
The upcoming dinner will be attended by the African diplomatic corps in Korea, former President of Ghana John Mahama, the Acting Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and members of the National Assembly's Forum for Africa, as well as representatives from domestic and foreign enterprises, academia and the culture sector.
On the occasion of the dinner, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will launch the 'Ministry of Foreign Affairs(MOFA)-African Group of Ambassadors(AGA) Joint Consultative Committee' to prepare for the Korea-Africa summit in 2024.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make every effort for the success of the Korea-Africa summit in 2024, in close consultation with the African diplomatic corps in Korea.
