Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will meet with Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg on January 29.

In the upcoming meeting, Foreign Minister Park will discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Korea and NATO, which share universal values such as freedom, democracy and the rule of law, as well as regional security affairs, including the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The NATO Secretary General, who will visit Korea from January 29 to 30, will lay a wreath at the National Cemetery, deliver a lecture at the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies, and meet with the Minister of National Defense.

His visit to Korea, which follows the Korean President’s participation in the NATO Summit and the establishment of Korea’s Permanent Mission to NATO last year, is expected to serve as an opportunity to have in-depth discussions on global security issues faced by both sides as well as ways for them to work together.
