Press Briefing

Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Soosuk Lim

December 22, 2022  14:30  KST

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, having established a taskforce to provide one-stop diplomatic support to Korean companies with their bids to promote export and win orders, will hold its initial meeting later this afternoon, chaired by Foreign Minister Park Jin.

On November 23, at its first meeting on export strategies chaired by the President, the Korean government underscored the need to promote export and large-scale order-intake as a way to overcome impact from the global economic slowdown.

The taskforce, which will be launched today and comprised of teams on three key areas, -- corporate support and the defense industry, construction and plants, and energy and resources -- will serve as a control tower for diplomatic assistance that Korean companies need in their efforts to boost export and land large-scale contracts from overseas markets.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will seek to identify the flow of the global market in real time through the network of its 190 overseas diplomatic missions, and will reinforce its high-level “sales diplomacy” in continued efforts to help the Korean economy take a leap.

Moving on, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will host a reception this evening in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-Viet Nam diplomatic relations.

At the reception to take place on the anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, Foreign Minister Park will appreciate the efforts and roles of people from various sectors who have contributed to the remarkable development of the Korea-Viet Nam relationship. He will also deliver a message that Korea will seek to further advance its relations with Viet Nam, which have been upgraded to “comprehensive strategic partnership” this year as the two countries mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
