Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing. 

On the sidelines of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum held in Busan on October 25, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, together with Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Park Heong-joon, concluded a “memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Busan for assistance and cooperation on economic development.”

The MOU marks the first concluded between the Foreign Ministry and a local government for economic development. It stipulates attracting investment into Busan Metropolitan City, seeking out and conducting international development cooperation projects, hosting international events, assisting cooperation with local governments of foreign countries, and helping Busan-based companies build presence abroad.

At the MOU signing ceremony, Foreign Minister Park mentioned that Busan’s hosting of World Expo 2030, if realized, would be an excellent opportunity to enhance Korea’s international standing, adding that support will be provided for Busan to host various international events and thereby expand its global presence.
