Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will attend the appointment ceremony of the members of the Advisory Committee on Disarmament and Non-proliferation Diplomacy tomorrow morning, Friday, June 17.

At the appointment ceremony, nine experts in nuclear energy, missiles, space security and other related fields will be appointed to the Advisory Committee.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in consultation with the Advisory Committee, will continue to work towards contributing to shaping international disarmament and non-proliferation norms.

Next, Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will deliver opening remarks at the 2022 World Emerging Security Forum to be held in Seoul from June 21 to 22.

The 2022 World Emerging Security Forum is an international event hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lead discussions on international cooperation in responding to transnational emerging security threats, as a global pivotal state.

At the upcoming Forum, which marks the second following the first last year, participants will particularly discuss cybersecurity, health security, and emerging technologies and security.

In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Park will stress the importance of cooperation among various stakeholders to respond proactively to emerging security threats, including the possible emergence of new infectious diseases and cyber attacks, and present the way forward for international cooperation.
