Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

On Tuesday, May 3, Amb. Noh Kyu-duk, Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, will have a meeting with Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming, who will visit Korea in early May.

The upcoming visit of Special Representative Liu Xiaoming to Korea will mark the first of its kind and the meeting the first in-person one between the Korean and Chinese chief negotiators for the North Korean nuclear issue since the Chinese Special Representative’s inauguration.

At the meeting, the two sides will share their assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and discuss ways to work together for a stable management of the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
