Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong will deliver a congratulatory message via video at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN-ROK Financial Cooperation Centre to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13.

The ASEAN-ROK Financial Cooperation Centre, which the Korean government established at the Mission of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN as a key project of the New Southern Policy, will play an important role of supporting Korean companies’ bids to enter the ASEAN market as well as ASEAN's establishment of advanced financial infrastructure.

In his congratulatory message, Foreign Minister Chung will express hope that the Centre will develop into a platform for mutually-beneficial financial cooperation between Korea and ASEAN, and ask ASEAN for active cooperation in that regard.

Next, tomorrow morning, Wednesday, April 13, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will meet with high-level delegates from Africa and the Middle East who are on a visit to Korea at the invitation of the Korea Foundation (KF).

In the meeting, Vice Minister Choi will discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Korea and Africa and the Middle East and ask the delegation to play a bridging role in advancing the relations between Korea and Africa and the Middle East.
