Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Choi Youngsam

Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

First, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon will deliver opening remarks at the 5^th ROK-U.S. Joint Public-Private Economic Forum to be held in Seoul on Thursday, December 16.

At the upcoming Forum co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the U.S. Department of State, the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, online and offline participants from Korean and U.S. companies and academia will discuss ways to increase economic cooperation between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Vice Minister Choi will stress the importance of promoting people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the U.S. in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and women’s economic empowerment.

Next, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jongmoon, along with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez, who will visit Korea from December 15 to 17, will attend the 6^th ROK-U.S. Senior Economic Dialogue (SED) on Friday, December 17.

At the 6^th SED, the two sides will discuss ways for Korea and the U.S. to work together in supply chains, science and technology, vaccines, climate change and infrastructure.
