【Related National Policy Task】No. 120: Emerging as a G7+Diplomatic Power through Contributions and Active Engagement in the International Community

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host a roundtable of international law experts on the theme of “The Future of International Law in an Emerging Global Order” from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, in collaboration with Sungkyunkwan University (Graduate School of Future Policy Studies, Institute for Future Policy Studies, and Law School).

The roundtable will begin with opening remarks by Dean of the Graduate School of Future Policy Studies and Director of the Institute for Future Policy Studies Sung Jae-ho and will be moderated by Law School professor Lee Kil-won from Sungkyunkwan University.

The panelists will include Sir Michael Wood KC, former Legal Adviser to the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, former member of the UN International Law Commission, and barrister at the Twenty Essex law firm; Pierre Bodeau-Livinec, professor at Paris Nanterre University; Mathias Forteau, professor at Paris Nanterre University and member of the UN International Law Commission; and Omri Sender, partner lawyer at the S. Horowitz & Co. law firm: They will share their insights and perspectives on current issues, trends, and future prospects in key areas of international law, followed by a Q&A session and other opportunities for interaction with the audience.

This event has been organized to foster interest in international law among young generations including undergraduate and graduate students, and is open to all students and anyone from the general public.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to create various opportunities to raise public awareness of international law and develop experts in the field. At the same time, the Ministry plans to actively participate in the formation of new international norms, expanding Korea’s role on the global stage.
