The Government of the Republic of Korea welcomes the release of hostages in Gaza, the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt and the announcement of the “Trump Declaration for Enduring Peace and Prosperity” on October 13. In addition, the Korean Government highly appreciates the efforts made by U.S. President Trump to promote peace in the Middle East including Gaza.

The Government of the Republic of Korea urges relevant parties to immediately reach an agreement on the next phase of President Trump’s Peace Plan and fully implement it, including the disarmament of Hamas, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force and the withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces. Furthermore, the Korean Government expects that the positive momentum generated by this agreement will lead to lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the Government of the Republic of Korea will continue to actively engage in the international community’s efforts to build peace and stability in the Middle East.
