- A Ten-Day Journey into Korea’s Economic, Social and Foreign Policies -
1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will host the 6th Next Generation Korea Experts Workshop from Monday, August 4 to Thursday, August 14. This year’s program will bring together 47 international students from 23 countries currently enrolled in master’s and doctoral courses at universities in Korea.
2. Participants will attend lectures by experts and engage in discussions on a wide range of topics, including ▴economic security ▴environmental issues ▴the climate crisis ▴the Korean Peninsula situation and ▴Hallyu (Korean Wave). They will also visit major public institutions such as ▴MOFA ▴the Center for Economic Security and Foreign Affairs ▴the Korea Foundation Global Center and ▴the ASEAN-Korea Centre. In addition, they will take field trips to ▴Hyundai Motorstudio ▴SUDOKWON Landfill Site Management Corporation ▴the inter-Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and ▴the War Memorial of Korea to better understand Korea’s economic, social and diplomatic policies and to see for themselves Korea’s development experience.
3. On the final day of the program, participants will present in groups their research outcomes on such themes as security, economy, diplomacy, culture and environment, applying what they will have learned throughout the workshop. Notably, this year’s program includes a special visit to MOFA for a networking session with junior Korean diplomats.
4. The Next Generation Korea Experts Workshop is one of MOFA’s many exchange programs for young adults. Since 2020, MOFA has been running this program to help international graduate students in Korea gain a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of Korean society and policies.
5. MOFA will continue to actively implement a wide range of public diplomacy initiatives for young adults from home and abroad in a bid to enhance global awareness of Korea and to nurture future experts in Korean affairs.
