The meeting took place with participants from relevant ministries, government agencies, and major economic organizations involved in the preparations for the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) to review and discuss ▲ the preparation status of upcoming sectoral ministerial meetings, and ▲ follow-up measures across key operational areas for implementing the basic plan for the AELM.

2. Building on the outcomes of the First and Second Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOM1 and SOM2) and sectoral ministerial meetings—including the APEC Ocean-Related Ministerial Meeting (AOMM), the Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting (HRDMM), the APEC Education Ministerial Meeting (AEMM), and the Meeting of APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT)—the participants agreed to thoroughly prepare for the upcoming meetings in the second half of the year to ensure the successful hosting of the AELM.

Furthermore, each ministry committed to conducting a comprehensive review of the progress made to date and identifying the necessary follow-up measures.

3. The participants also discussed the follow-up measures for implementing the basic plan across key operational areas, including aviation and transportation, medical support, cultural events, promotional activities, and business-related events.

Aviation: The government plans to establish a comprehensive coordination framework involving relevant government agencies and airports, with the aim of improving airport infrastructure and the convenience of air travel.

Transportation: The government plans to ensure the smooth operation of the AELM and efficient transportation service through an integrated monitoring and control system, along with the deployment of motorcades, protocol vehicles, and shuttles at airports and train stations.

Medical Support: Throughout the AELM, the government will provide high-quality, 24-hour medical services, including prompt and seamless emergency care.

Cultural Events and Promotional Activities: In the spirit of solidarity and cooperation upheld by APEC, the government will meticulously plan key events, such as official dinners, cultural programs, and the spouses’ program, ensuring that the significance of the AELM and Korea’s national are prominently highlighted on the global stage.

Business-related Events: The government and the private sector will work together to prepare diverse side events, in addition to the CEO Summit and the Leaders’ Dialogue with APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and will encourage the participation of business leaders from both home and abroad.

4. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang urged the participants to carry out thorough reviews of all aspects of the process with a strong sense of responsibility, emphasizing their vital role in overseeing key areas of preparation for the 2025 AELM.

5. Noting that the AELM will be held in Korea for the first time in 20 years, the government will make every effort to faithfully implement the sectoral plans discussed at the meeting and to ensure the success of the AELM.
