1. Lee Jooil, Director-General for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the opening ceremony of the Cuban Embassy in Korea on Tuesday, June 10.
2. The ceremony consisted of a plaque unveiling ceremony, welcoming remarks, congratulatory speeches, and a reception. Claudio Monzón, Cuban Ambassador to Korea, Ariel Lorenzo, Director-General for Asia and Oceania at the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Latin American ambassadors to Korea joined the event.
3. In his congratulatory remarks, Director-General Lee welcomed the establishment of the Cuban Embassy in Korea, noting that it follows the opening of the Korean Embassy in Cuba this past January. He stated that the establishment of the respective embassies marks the successful implementation of the follow-up measures taken after the two countries established diplomatic relations in February of last year.
4. He expressed his hope that the Cuban Embassy in Korea will contribute to the development of bilateral relations and affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea will provide necessary support for the smooth operation of the embassy.
