7th Meeting of Korea APEC 2025 Organizing Committee - A comprehensive review of the current preparation status and a reaffirmed commitment to cooperation among ministries and related agencies -

1. The seventh meeting of the Korea APEC 2025 Organizing Committee, chaired by Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister Lee Ju-ho, who also serves as Minister of Education, was held at the Government Complex Seoul on Thursday, May 22, 2025.


* Key outcomes of the first to sixth meetings of the Korea APEC 2025 Organizing Committee are as follows:


- First Meeting (March 18, 2024): Approved the establishment of the Host City Selection Committee  

- Second Meeting (June 27, 2024): Confirmed Gyeongju as the host city of the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM)

- Third Meeting (October 2, 2024): Approved the basic plan for the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM)

- Fourth Meeting (November 13, 2024): Approved the official emblem for APEC 2025 KOREA

- Fifth Meeting (January 22, 2025): Reviewed and discussed plans for cultural events, aviation and transportation, as well as the construction and operation of the media center

- Sixth Meeting (April 17, 2025): Reviewed and discussed plans for promotional activities, sponsorships, and the appointment of the artistic director


2. The meeting addressed the following: 1) the outcomes of the Second Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and related ministerial meetings*; 2) the appointment of the artistic director for cultural events; 3) measures for aviation, transportation, and medical support; and 4) the status of preparations for the business-related events**.

3. In addition, the committee members agreed to continue encouraging active participation from APEC leaders and business representatives, and to further enhance cooperation among ministries and related agencies to ensure the timely implementation of the matters discussed and reviewed during the meeting.


4. Acting President Lee stated, “As the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) is set to take place in Korea for the first time in 20 years, we must seize this opportunity to demonstrate Korea’s leadership and strengthen its credibility on the global stage by ensuring the success of the meeting,” while emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation for the successful hosting of the AELM.  


5. Building on the outcome of the meeting, the government will continue its preparations to ensure that the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) not only takes the lead in shaping the regional economic cooperation agenda but also serves as a comprehensive economic and cultural platform that showcases Korea’s cultural excellence to the world.
