- Final Review of 2024 APEC Achievements to be Reported at APEC Economic Leaders’ and Ministerial Meetings -
- Presentation of Theme and Priorities for APEC 2025 Korea -
1. The Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting (CSOM) of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) was held in Lima, Peru, from November 11 (Monday) to November 12 (Tuesday).
2. Kim Hee-sang, Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and APEC Senior Official of the Republic of Korea, attended the meeting for a final review of the outcome of this year's activities ahead of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (November 15-16) and the APEC Ministerial Meeting (November 14). He also shared plans regarding preparations for APEC 2025 Korea.
3. Deputy Minister Kim introduced the theme and priorities for APEC 2025 that Korea has set as its host -- "Building a Sustainable Tomorrow : Connect, Innovate, Prosper" -- and proposed the policy direction to be pursued. He also invited senior officials from APEC member economies to the Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM) to be held in Seoul, Korea, in December.
4. Senior officials from other APEC member economies took note of the various discussions and activities undertaken this year under the priorities proposed by Peru, the current host economy, -- "Empower, Include, Grow." They went on to express strong expectations for the 2025 APEC meetings to be hosted by Korea.
5. Additionally, Deputy Minister Kim participated in the fourth APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meeting at the invitation of ABAC, where he emphasized that, as the incoming host economy, Korea will make every effort to deliver tangible outcomes for businesses in the region, particularly in the context of new economic security challenges such as supply chain disruptions and climate change. He also expressed his commitment to heeding the recommendations of ABAC members and voices from the regional business community in the process.
