1. The Korean government announced its plan to provide assistance to address the humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia at the High-Level Pledging Event for the Humanitarian Situation in Ethiopia, held in Geneva, Switzerland, on Tuesday, April 16.

2. Korea was represented by Yun Seong Deok, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and Other International Organizations in Geneva. He said at the meeting that Korea plans to provide 7 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian assistance and 13,582 metric tons of rice as in-kind contribution this year to contribute to addressing the humanitarian situation in Ethiopia, especially the food insecurity.

3. At the meeting, participants agreed that the international community should continue to support Ethiopia, which is suffering from multiple crises, including extreme weather caused by climate change, food crisis, and an increase in internal displacement and influx of refugees due to instability in the region.

4. As a responsible member of the international community and as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2024-25 term, the Korean government will continue to actively participate in the international community's efforts to support countries suffering from humanitarian crises.
