1. On March 19, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun held his first telephone conversation with State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs Diego Martínez Belío of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Over the phone, the two vice ministers exchanged congratulations on their inauguration and discussed ways to develop Korea-Spain relations.

2. The two vice ministers took note that the Strategic Partnership between Korea and Spain has developed including in cutting-edge industries such as green energy. They agreed to work closely together to further promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including political affairs, economy and trade, and people-to-people exchanges, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year. To this end, both sides agreed to make efforts to hold the 3rd vice-ministerial Strategic Dialogue at a mutually convenient time.

3. Vice Foreign Minister Kim noted that the 3rd Summit for Democracy has been successfully underway since March 18 and expressed his gratitude for the participation of Spanish President Pedro Sánchez in the Summit. In response, State Secretary Martínez appreciated Korea's hosting of the 3rd Summit and wished for its successful conclusion.
