1. The Korean government strongly regrets that the Japanese government decided to nominate the ”Sado Island Gold Mines,” where Koreans were forced to work under harsh condition during World War Ⅱ, for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List despite Korea’s repeated warnings; and sternly urges Japan to stop its attempt.

2. The Korean government recalls the World Heritage Committee’s decision  last July expressing strong regret on Japan’s non-fulfilment of the relevant decisions concerning the inscription of the ”Sites of Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution,” and reiterates that the Japanese government should first fully implement the follow-up measures that it pledged when the Sites were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015.
