1. First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Choi Jong Kun will visit Vienna, Austria on 4-9 January and meet with heads of delegations to the negotiations which aim to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

※ The Korean government has been communicating and consulting with key countries in order to resolve pending issues between Korea and Iran.



2. The purpose of the visit by the Korean delegation is to explore ways to resolve the issue of frozen Iranian assets in Korea on the sidelines of the JCPOA negotiations by holding consultations with Iran as well as engaging in close coordination and communication with the United States, the European Union and the E3(France, Germany and the United Kingdom).

3. The Korean government will continue to provide its diplomatic support for the restoration of the JCPOA, with a view to strengthening Korea-US cooperation on maintaining the non-proliferation regime and furthering ties between Korea and Iran as well.
